Summary for DNRcels: IT doesn't want you to know the truth. (i.e. water is wet)
I'm sure everyone on this forum is familiar with IT. If you aren't check the Wiki above for an explanation.
A common expression on this forum is "IT won't touch this.". This means that the members of IT are extremely unlikely to view threads about certain topics, and they instead go for low hanging fruit, like a bait thread from @coping_manlet or a similar user.
There are at least three reasons why IT doesn't want to acknowledge the existence of the high IQ threads on the site.
The first is the Dunning-Kruger effect. This is a cognitive bias where those with the least knowledge in a field claim they know the most about it. Ever wondered why flat earthers are so hellbent on their views?
Then there is the confirmation bias. This is the tendency to only listen to voices that already agree with your views, and not those holding opposing ones. I'm not going to deny we are vulnerable to this as well, but simply put, our beliefs are on pretty solid ground I would say.
There's finally, a bit of Darwinism going on as well. IT only "touch" (or select) the posts that are the most provocative (e.g. "I graped a toilet and she enjoyed it") rather than more tame ones (e.g. "Currently LDARing, ask me anything"). This is because they generate the most updoots/karma, and also give the biggest serotonin rush/ego boost to the IT user as being in the superior situation (they think "at least I'm not them")
There's also a (related) analogy I use to represent the three main pills.
The bluepill is like liberalism. It's mainstream, everyone claims it's okay in some areas.
The redpill is like social democracy. It's followers acknowledge the harsh truths about the dating world (capitalism) but still think the system isn't fundamentally flawed.
Meanwhile, the blackpill is communism. Most people do not want to acknowledge the blackpill/communism because they often times implicitly believe some aspects of it, despite the indoctrination they receive against it. It's also why if you're blackpilled/a commie people get a different reaction than if you tell them the Earth is flat, etc.. (someone could probably do this much better than me)
