People, use your heads!!
In February 2024, a Canadian family, the Feenstras, who moved to Russia to escape what they perceived as Western "LGBT ideology," reportedly had their bank accounts frozen and faced other difficulties. In a deleted YouTube video, the wife Anneesa expressed frustration. Her husband, Arend, later posted an apology video to clarify their commitment to living in Russia
This is very common for westerners going to authoritarian countries or environment, even video games hosted by these countries
I made a post about it though in gaming context.

Number one rule in authoritative countries - you don't directly make the government look bad or directly critique it.
Number two rule (doesn't work in totaliarian environment) - keep your head down; social harmony is everything. The less risks you expose yourself to having to deal with the elites the better.
Number three - if you had to choose an authoritative country, at least choose one with working infrastructure and efficiency. All cons and no pros. If you had to choose Russia, at least choose Moscow/STPB.
Take that from someone with experience of living in authoritatian environment.
