In swimming, especially women's, the medalists are 14-20 years old. They peak around 18-19, men around 21. In track and field and soccer, the prime age is early to mid twenties. In swimming and running (Cooper's test) the prime age is 19 years old and after that the decline starts and that goes on and on until you die. The same with maths ability, coding ability, your memory, language learning ability...
Only the absolute best athletes, who dominated at their prime in their sport, can remain competitive max. around 10 years, i.e. one decade if they are lucky with injuries (and the young recover from injuries much quicker, I know this well, big difference in a football/soccer player aged 17 and 31 in terms of time needed to recover from the same injury in a same player). 3 Olympic gold medals. 2000, 2004 and 2008 for example, 8 years needed if you had the best luck in terms of timing of the Olympics and your age.
Looks and IQ prime lasts the same. You live 75-100+ years, but your prime only lasts under 10 years. That is the time you have in this life to make a change.
