This question came up in a recent thread of mine, where I talked about a guy who's best friend was a paid actor the past 10 years. We were thinking whether Truman was actually an incel, since his whole life was a reality TV show that he thought was real. Everyone, including his wife and best friend, were paid actors.
So the question is: since his "wife" was paid the entire time, was Truman actually an incel (or technically escortcel), even though he wasn't the one paying? Or, was he not, since he was unaware of his wife being an actor? What would the situation be, if someone paid a woman to have sex with one of us, and we were unaware of this payment?
At the end of the movie (spoilers I guess) he escapes to the "real world", where a woman who sympathizes with him wants to meet him. I'm not sure if she desires him romantically, or ever hooks up with him in-universe.
I've made a poll on this question. It'd be interesting to see what the consensus is.
