I couldn't run that shit at more than 40-60fps. It was dropping frames like crazy and was also looking like total ass (especially hair) while normies are jerking off how beautiful and how well game ran. What the fuck? How? Are we playing same game?

what even the point in gozzilion polygon 3d models, RT lightning and high resolution textures when all of it is covered by TAA blur, smearing, ghosting, artifacts, flickering.
And also dreadful fog that destroy even more detail and color. Those modern devs are completely retarded they make games less clear to the eye than shit we had 20 years ago on xb360. I have never seen such ugly looking blurry games till we moved to UE4/UE5 and RE Engine. Graphics peaked in 2015 with NFS, Batman AK and MGS V.

yeah they're terrible, unfortunately a lot of devs that were making games in 2000s and early 2010s are retired by now and replaced by degenerates. One of the reasons why they put RT lightning everywhere is because it requires less effort and skill. RT is very demanding, even modern day hardware can barely handle full RT natively without use of upscalers and frame generation.

Alan Wake 2 1440p RT ultra with 5090, just 50-60fps. In 4k it has 26-30fps.

They should just make games with alright enough graphics. I found gta 5 to be looking like real life. Why bother improving graphics so much when games looked real enough in the past ?

I think fog can be enabled by developers to prevent full rendering of things. You can reduce the LOD of models behind fog....one way of "optimization" I guess
 
Game devs on average might legit be worse than Web devs in 2025. They are all just working with high-level APIs and don't have to set up anything from scratch. None of the give a toss about performance or memory.

with FSR that they have added for their new games they are running at about the same resolution as xb360 or higher but never above 1080p if they want 60fps games

Modern devs are talentless hacks, a lot of the work is outsourced to indians too and they are not best known of their quality work. They want to automate everything as they know it will be easier to do than hand placing all lights and shadows. They are way too lazy for that, optimization is truly dead. I really don't care about raytracing as much as i care for smart enemy ai and physics.

yeah games are evolving backwards in that regard, just compare S.T.A.L.K.E.R. original trilogy AI to S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 AI, it's so bad.

Except it doesn't work like as game still renders everything as it's just a shader not a render stopper, actually disabling that awful volumetric fog increase your fps and also give back some of the visuals (especially colors), fog to obscure/remove details haven't worked since ps2/3

A lot of the old devs no longer work at new gsc games. They rid off dude that made cool monster ai. And Dmitriy Iassenev (another ai guy) is apparently in the army so good luck making good ai without those two guys.

Now it makes sense just like Wukong that was running at sub 40fps and they had to use frame gen to reach 60fps and yet normies never noticed the massive input lag and artifacts they are retarded idiots with no brain and standards lower than anyone before.

The average Steam user playing it on PC plays it at less than 40 or 30 with no framegen to brute force it at 720p. the Console version atleast is serviceable for the price

ps5 = frame gen always on, while on pc you can play on medium or just use frame gen with high/ultra settings
