There's something cringe about analyzing characters who are fictional and written to act and behave a certain way. "Wow! This villain is so evil!" The fictional character written to be antisocial is antisocial and does disturbing things? Woah. There's this especially cringe channel called "analyzing evil." I know who he is because he did a video about the main villain in fucking mega mind and started ranting about incels. How can people take this seriously?
A character was written to behave in a certain way. It's not deep. So many idiots praising Adolescence as such a deep show when it's just a strawman of beliefs the creator didn't like. Speaking of strawmans, most movies and TV shows feature strawmans. My pfp is Joker from Dark Knight, and that character is basically a strawman of nihilism. I don't think a writer misrepresenting a belief they disagree with, or making up a fictional scenario where that belief is debunked, is worthy of praise.
There's also these essays about media that's specifically written to be interpretive. Interpretive stories are slop. It's either that the writer knows the real meaning and refuses to reveal it, or there was never any meaning in the first place and the writer is trying to give the impression that their story is deep.
Anyways, all these twenty hour videos about fictional characters are absolute slop.
