I find it odd. Like, I can understand putting attractive characters in things. Like the hot women in classic Mortal Kombat for example. It's just a bit of light eye candy.
But... entire sex scenes? I dunno. Just seems... half-baked. If you want sex scenes because you find them exciting (which many of them seem to) then typically that's what rule34 and stuff is about. You don't always have to put it IN the entertainment.
Maybe the reason is because they don't like "objectifying" anyone with a feminine-looking body. So the only way to have them be naked or even less clothed is within context, which is typically a sex scene.
Also I guess women tend to be happier with suggestions of sex than men. Like how they like reading Fifty Shades Of Grey or whatever, whereas that would feel "half-baked" to a guy.
