Here are some pictures I took when I visited a special one off museum exhibition on the theme of the Roman Army.
The cards on display said the shield is the last complete shield of the thousands that must have been made. It's normally kept in the archives to preserve it and is rarely on display.
The gold coins were paid to a Roman soldier after his 25 years of service as a pension. Doesn't seem much and what if the coins were lost or stolen?
