I think a lot of the Valve games are awesome. HL1, Blue Shift, and Opposing Force were pretty damn good with Opposing Force being the best out of the GoldSrc titles. OG CS is pretty good as well.
But IMHO HL2 deserves the praise it gets. It was an awesome experience. But tbh at the end of the day, all of these games were basically glorified tech demos, but that doesn't stop them from being good.
Only games I have not played are the Portal titles. But I'll get to them eventually...
