It's not looking good at all. The military can't even defend their own supply routes close to the nation's capital.

Okay, I had to re-edit the title to include JNIM as the former group is also active in northeastern Burkina Faso (while 1SGS operates in the tri-border area instead) and they occasionally conduct cross-border raids/attacks in locations relatively close to Niamey.
