That basic idea of autonomy, that sustained effort will lead to at least some results, doesnt exist if youre unattractive
And now onto why ugliness is the most endlessly painful and damaging condition of the human experience;
Like any permanent genetic affliction, disease or disability, youre never going to run away from being ugly unless youre one of a small minority of talented or lucky people who have the money to undergo good quality surgery.
Ugliness is sustained and ceaseless suffering, because you are as healthy and normal as any other average joe in society doing average joe things, AND YET you are not. You are SO GODDAMN CLOSE to being a normal healthy male with a normal lifestyle that you are in control of, and yet you fall short of it by one insignificant thing nobody really talks about, oh, its just being unattractive.
Ugliness is heart crushing and soul destroying, because it represents a state of eternal powerlessness, being victim to your own hopes, dreams, wishes and desires and being powerless to stop them flying away from you every time you reach out to grab them. An unfulfilled, incomplete and deeply distressing life. To live as a human being and be eternally powerless in your pursuit of the most valuable parts of said human life, love and romance.
