My step grandmother, who was married to my maternal grandfather, told my family members to make sure we, get our colons checked. It was after my grandpa died of lung cancer, and she was saying we should all be looking after our health more.

Also, I'm pretty sure what's normal is 3 times a day to three times a week. Our ancestors consumed much more fiber than we do, however so it might not be what's actually healthiest. Most of the food we eat is stripped of much of it's fiber as well.
