Yeah but not the protective parents part.

One thing I wish my parents taught me was how to handle money.

I think they were not great with it themselves and so were humble enough not to teach about it.

Years later it is front and center for me, often learned the hard and embarrassing way ("oh, that's how much I had to pay in interest...").

For you cels who know personal finance, please teach your nieces, nephews, junior colleagues. The good karma you will spread into the universe would be beyond your wildest dreams.

Mostly true for me. My parents had super low expectations for us. I guess that’s good in some respects. One thing I don’t like is they never encouraged or asked me about relationships. And they always gave the impression they never wanted me to get married or have kids and have my own life. Literally the never said something like “when you get married” or “when you have kids” or “can’t wait to have grandchildren”
