Whenever I take the subway or the bus (and I try to avoid it), even if it's crowded and a seat next to someone opens up because someone else is getting off, I'd rather stand than sit next to them and be humiliated. I'm afraid the person sitting next to me will leave, get disgusted, swear. Do you want to travel by public transport? Be a chad.

A few months ago, I sat at the very back of the bus, and in front of me were a woman who looked around 40 and her daughter, who seemed to be about 17. Maybe a minute passed when I saw the woman turn toward me with a look as if she hated me. Then she said something to her daughter, and they moved to the front of the bus. I wasn’t being loud or rude. I was simply seen as a subhuman being they needed to escape from.

Also if you get blocked by someone they might ignore you if you ask them to move that's the only problem
