I have my own office and on the average day I talk to people for less than 15 minutes. The rest of the time I do my work and for breaks I surf online.

So yesterday I finished work, but atm have no video game I'm playing and have no desire atm to start a new research subject. I get into researching something like some disease, then spend hours each day reading the medical literature about it and the treatments, clinical stage development, etc.

So after work I went home and had dinner, then went to go to sleep. But I woke up 2 hours later, not tired. After 3 hours of sitting staring at the computer not even changing pages i tried to go to sleep again. Nope, wasn't tired and it made me depressed laying there.

So then out of boredom I made a huge mistake and got something to eat. Then I felt even worse because I'm trying to lose weight.

Now I'm actually looking forward to work so my mind stays occupied on something.

Can confirm, am oldcel and I love my work. I'm not a wagie though.

mogs me at working

my job isn't that great but when i'm concentrating on some task at work it takes my mind off how empty the rest of my life is

I also do this and you sound very passionate about your subject. My work is sometimes something that makes me want to kill myself, but it's also what prevents me from roping, because it's sometimes fun ngl.

nice cope brocel

The feeling of a personalized office is a nice feeling ngl

Not like those gaudy, childish "millennial oriented" workspaces but the classic desk job setup is a good thing to arrive to.
Too bad a lot of those jobs are getting automated away while the unstructured workspace that requires you to "think on your feet" and "be creative" has become more common.

I would love to have my own office. I'd still love getting out and going to work suited and booted but have that level of independence. I also hate working from home.

Yeah having your own office is definitely something to aspire to. Makes you feel lot more accomplished and moving up in life. Makes you feel successful like your parents were and not some stay at home "millennial" or genZ struggling to make ends meet and working in unreliable, not very respectable gig economy and freelancing type jobs.

Working from home is great though. It's like your own personal office but way comfier and you can do a lot more low inhib things like talking to yourself and eating without worrying about any co workers eavesdropping on you.
I think @BlkPillPres has talked about this before.
its over autistcels
Convergence of the worst trends at the worst time tbh

Thing is I can't get into the work mode. Although I don't mind doing odd jobs working from home.

True that can be tough but it's comfier as long as there is no noise. When there is outside noise is when I'd prefer to be at the actual workplace in an office where such noise is kept to a minimum.

Typing prompts, programs and listening to online lectures are some easy things to manage doing when working from home imo.

As long as there isn't too much symbols or accent characters involved in your text even taking online exams with short answer questions isn't that bad.

Yeah I'm hearing you.

I have several distractions whilst at home. Mother, cats, 2 young nieces etc.

I worked a parking lot for 7 years and would always have the foids towed if they left the property

Imagine being able to take a "fap break" at work......... great times to come JFL

You know whats one thing I always wanted to do, masturbate without using headphones, to me one of the most significant examples of "being free" is being able to just fap watching some big screen tv with the volume on max and not having to give a fuck (sound proofed room)

As long as there isn't an online meeting and you can keep things clean Ig some guys would like that.
But even things like scratching an itch, your eyes, getting up and eating food and savoring it. You can't do that in an office workspace in an office building without getting weird looks and a weird rep so the convenience of a personal home office is very much underrated imo.

The freedom of working from home really is great tbh
It's the little things that you can get away with doing that you can't without embarassment or unwanted attention in an office building. But they all add up.

Glad to hear. It took me decades but I also finally have a job with my own office that does not require large amounts of talking to people. Pretty much work solitary and talk to people only when necessary or the occasional bs with someone, but that is rare too. I don’t make a ton but I get by and it’s low stress.

Ya those open offices are so fail its not even funny. People have enough problems with ADHD even when they are alone. Actual work that creates value needs concentration and deep thinking and engagement.

That is even more true today than in the past, as today so much of the routine work is automated.. done instantly by the computer.

True tbh the old office cubicles or professional workspace offices with a standard desk, computer and chair to allow for egress are the best.

Yeah it sucks tbh such workspaces are geared toward NT people that can think on their feet and women who are better at multi tasking and dealing with new experiences than a lot of autistic men. But society demands autistic men "just stop being autistic" and adapt to this or starve to death. And nobody publicly questions this and just accepts this because doing so otherwise would mean having to take a deeper look at the prejudices that autistic men face and take attention off "women's issues".
