ye I'm that gamer. I can't leave an environment without meticulously observing every intricate detail of the games environment. I have to read every bit of intricate text I come across, even background text baked into the interior like the random schedule of a timetable or some random etymology on the extinction of dinosaurs.

I meticulously listen in to every word from background chatter of background NPC's that I glance by. In a way its a relief to stumble upon a section that doesn't feature these details so I can have a break from all the reading and random chatter. I read all the documents, books you name it, if not there an then at some point I'll read it. I scan each environment to ensure no stone is left unturned.

This is why it takes me longer than most to finish games because I'm just highly compulsive like this, I'm not your average gamer that rushes past and vacates every passing detail to progress the narrative asap. I literally soak in everything I come across, maybe its my OCD or maybe more gamers in general are like this. To the average normie this is madness, to me its normality :whatfeels: .

Yea I have this sort of thing too

Reading is lighter on my brain than playing, gives all angles of something instead of jumping in the darkness.. but I think it is more enjoyable when you put the literature aside and try to absorp the game in your first few experiences, that way you know the experience is yours

My thing is less severe than yours but i have to like check every corner and every part of the map if its a linear game. I don't want to miss a fight or leave an item unpicked. Doing this gives me a feeling of satisfaction and fullfilment and a sort of an imaginary pass, that yes i can proceed forward now. Not doing this makes me a bit uncomfortable. But i can override this feeling and just run past things if i am on a subsequent playthrough and am trying to speed run things.

I am the complete opposite. I skip every cutscene. Do not read a single note. Skip the tutorial. Etc.
