Expect....when they immigrated to Rome on mass. :feelsugh:
>be antique version of US
>practice imperialism and expansionism
>get surprised when the people you conquered migrate to the capital for better wages

Kek true

However, a common misconception people have around this, is that it genetically altered the region forever.

They only migrated to Rome-proper, and eventually -as it is well established- that this population declined & eventually died-off or migrated Eastward(Byzantium) due to being unable to sustain themselves, disease, and also the sack:

Rome population

At one point, I think it was recorded the city had a population of less than 50k.

The city was later populated by actual Italians(descended of the Latini) & other Europeans later on. A lot of the immigrant population was also European in origin or Western Anatolians who were much closer to Europeans back then.

We have various other polygenic scores & the such to also prove this.

Yea I heard of the population decline
I thought you were gonna say something else, then I woulda said ''Keep coping Roman Timmy, if you hadnt taken our lands we wouldnt have taken your bitches :chad:''

Kinda lifefuel in a way tbh

However, it doesn't change the fact that the migrant population to the region back then was overwhelmingly confined to Rome, had a higher mortality rate, was often from "adjacent" groups such as Illyrians, Gallo-Romans, Greeks/Western Anatolians, and many of the "Orientals" from the Levant were Hellenized at the very least.

Nowadays, migrants are in every city, town, etc. are very demographically & racially different, as well as have a similar mortality rate & higher-birthrate. :fuk:

Kek, I like to be both serious & shitpost at times.

I think most gladiators were non-roman, they all had names like ''the thracian'' and shit

Tbh i've always considered Carthage to be the actual "antique" version of the US.
>both republican oligarchies
>powerful navy
>56% mutt population
>both founded as a colony that eventually became more powerful than the mother country
Modern America is literally just Ancient Carthage on steroids.

Good point, might make a thread on this in fact; anything you can share over it?

So by this logic, Greece or maybe even Rome would be Britain & its Empire, now known as the UK.
It's just basic history, really.

Another one is that Rome directly controlled most of its territories (with a few exceptions), meanwhile Ancient Carthage mainly used treaties and alliances to control its "empire", not unlike how the US does it today.

Carthago Delenda Est.

Ye that also

That makes Rome more analogous to the UK, due to its direct-control approach.
