Do you think media had a role in popularizing a certain set of features as beautiful in men? Like how every hero has to be a chad with a good jawline and whatnot. In this way women became indoctrinated to prefer these set of features over others. If chad features weren't a thing in hollywood and the mainstream media would the situation be as bad as it is now?

Or is attraction to those particular features purely primal and even in places where there's little to no influence of western media, the chad features would still be admired and preferred?

This.

Media is based off the primal instincts

This. Beauty is objective and measurable in the brain. Media only exploits our natural preferences for attractive people in order to make money.

This. Media has no influence on desirable characteristics. The only extent to which media has an influence on desirability is in terms of someones perceived status, like how in medieval times, pale skin was preferable to tanned skin even though this is usually a signal of sickness or poor skin health. The reason it was preferred has to do with the rich people not having to work on fields all day out in the sun, and the rich had enough food and money to survive comfortably, so in that sense it raised their status and thus desirability.

Any attractive feature, atleast in principle, serves an evolutionary purpose. A strong jawline is a sign of healthy development, good testosterone levels and correct craniofacial growth. Any possible attractive feature has some underlying purpose in terms of signalling good genes or good development which is in itself a result of good genetics.

It has an affect. But dating apps and websites n that stuff b the main reason imo

Beauty is OBJECTIVE. Even women who barely use any social media like boomers would find Chris Hemsworth or Henry Cavill attractive. It's pretty obvious that convential beauty is universal.
