Personally I'm cautiously optimistic, I used to hate on the game because I believed it would be as bad as Victoria 3 or Crusader Kings 3 but after seeing actual footage of it, it doesn't look so bad

It looks like they put real effort into this game and it won't need two hundred DLCs to be good like other Paradox games, from what I've heard, it already matches EU4 in terms of how much flavor and content it has

Also keep in mind that the Europa Universalis series brings in a good portion of the company's income, if they fuck this up they would go broke. I believe that Paradox IS capable of making good games and doing it without DLCs but it is just more profitable for them to continue with their current business model, however, if they fucked up the EUV launch, it would be over for them

Maybe relevant to @weaselbomber @HeinzKell @KillNiggers @Nigger Burger @The Judge @Mihailo Toloto @Sewer Sloth @estonia2k

Just some paradoxcels I know, EUV has a pretty wide reaching appeal to Paradoxcels since it has pops like the Victoria series and Imperator: Rome and also has some character related mechanics like Crusader Kings series and Imperator: Rome

I played MEIOU&Taxes and everyone knows about how EU5 is basically that game, they even poached devs from that mod to work on it. The scale is certainly ambitious and since EU4 is my favourite Paradox game I'd be lying if I said I wasn't excited, but I'm still a bit skeptical about the stability of the game, its performance and the amount of content it'll have.
CK3 has been out for five years and it STILL feels bland and empty compared to CK2, and that's their best post-HOI4 game.

Another thing I'm worried is that its 1337 start date will mean most people will be finished by the time people hit the 1450s just as a lot of players in EU4 quit before the 1600s. We'll see tbh. I'd love for the game to be amazing but I still have my restraints. My retarded ass is prolly buying it day 1 though.

Lol same, which country are you planning on playing first? I'm thinking either England or Portugal

I also heard you can play banking families from history such as the Fuggers so I might try them out first lol

Lithuania since they're still pagan by the start date tbh
Venice, Bulgaria and Ireland might be fun too

Sort of? I’m looking forward for the psionic expansion on stellaris though

I want to clay paint eu5 map

They can't screw up this one. Victoria 3 was for sure painful but not the end of the world, and I didn't care about imperator rome crap at all. But EU5 just ought to be good.

The last Paradox game I bought was CK3 and I didn’t even log 20 hours before dumping it and going back to CK2. You can say vanilla had no DLC but honestly the base game itself was so dumbed down it felt like some fanfic globohomo roleplaying garbage. Every system was worse than CK2. Inheritance laws were completely messed up, armies were bland, expansion was boring as hell.

EU5 is looking like the same trash. From the gameplay videos you can already see it is following the CK3 formula. Flashy UI, pop ups everywhere, everything “streamlined” for casuals with no real depth behind it. Naval power is capped in this stupid artificial way and tall play is way too easy because you don’t even need actual population to build huge navies

people complained in EU4 that coastal provinces with autonomy gave you no sailors and EU5 just doubles down on that while pretending it is somehow more historical, kek.

it's classic nu-paradox: launch half finished, slap some quirky gay events and pay soy youtubers to call it the best strategy game then milk everyone with a million dogshit flavor DLCs while modders do all the work actually making the game good. CK3 was missing half the mechanics. No nomads, no merchant republics, no epidemics, no secret societies. Just a hollow shell that looked pretty. EU5 is going to be exactly the same. No proper mission trees, nations feeling bland, supply and naval mechanics in a half baked state and then expansions drip feeding back the content over years.

I am still going to buy it because the 1337 start date is good. the main nation I play is Morocco and in 1337 they still hold land in Iberia so at least there is something fresh to play with. I will play it for 20 hours, then uninstall it and wait 5 years for mods and overpriced DLC (to crack ofc) to finally make it worth playing.
