Social media was a mistake. Particularly the invention of the smart phone. Women/certain other groups nowadays can upload a context-less mobile phone video of someone and their life is over, you see that often: They provoke males until they respond, then they draw out their smart phone and film it, which gets them millions of views and the destruction of the life of any male they want to destroy. Most viral clips of misogyny/"male rage"/police brutality/racism start in the middle of the happening and tell you nothing about the escalation of the situation in the first place.
A famous example are the so-called Hunts of Chemnitz, there an alleged Neo-Nazi attacked/hunted a migrant at a funeral march dedicated to a German male stabbed by migrants, this became infamous, later it was revealed that the poor migrant "hunted" insulted people and tried to disturb the funeral march. It was a few seconds long, without any context, but the consequences were enormous. Another case: A German journalist filmed a black male getting kicked out of public transport, this clip went viral, what was unknown: The black male didn't buy cards and physically attacked the personnel before being kicked out. Context is everything and until context is there everyone already has an opinion, nobody then bothers to re-evaluate everything then when after a few weeks the entire truth is out.
