its gonna happen. There's no reason why it wouldn't pass the Senate. I would say though, that it's not 100% a pot of gold. I think they mostly want to ban tiktok in order to reduce anti-war sentiment. Also banning tiktok would only make google and meta more powerful. Having said that, tiktok is by far the most female friendly app demo, and also it's just a fucking stupid app that rots our minds worse than porn. The comments sections/algos in youtube are generally more right-leaning (though far more neolib than a rumble).

Agreed. They won't do shit. How the fuck would they even enforce something like that? Their best chance was to force the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store remove it back when it first got introduced as an app in the US. It's too deep-rooted to remove fully now. Unless they went full rampage mode and used every resource they had they would have very little chance at getting rid of TikTok for good in the USA. And even then I'm sure there would be ways around it.
Besides, as you said they are too lazy to do anything about it.
