Here's the kicker: there's only one panel where apparently he transitions to being a bad guy:

Now I think he was wrong from getting personally involved with another student while he had his own wife, but I don't see how anything here is "crossing the line" and become an abusive POS. Throughout all the panels, we have an insinuation that he was being a douchebag without a clear example of him crossing the line.

What irks me the most is that this guy is drawn in some crooked manner to suggest ugliness, as if ugliness is an inherent sign of being evil.
