I was thinking environmentally sustainable housing and how to house so many people without completely slaughtering the environment.

When you are eventually relocated to the countryside for my 5 year plan, will you be comfortable living in these houses?

The thing is, though, if you live in an area with a lot of windstorms, it will damage thatched roofs quite easily. Also, the thatching will have to be replaced often if you live in a humid climate with heavy rain/snow.

In terms of environment sustainability, an aluminum/steel roof with a brick/stone foundation and exterior might actually be optimal as it would be very durable and not need to be repaired very often.

Plus, bricks are cheap to make as sand and clay are very plentiful around the world.
