I'm somewhat out of the loop on politics, but I've been hearing about this "big beautiful bill" so I finally decided to look into it, and holy fuck it's BAD BAD BAD.
1) "No tax on tips" is in it. I explained in this thread: https://incels.is/threads/fuck-no-tax-on-tips.651982/ why I hated the "no tax on tips" proposal. But if you don't care to read it, the bottom line is I pay taxes on all of my income, and I fail to see why other occupations are getting some of their income tax exempt. Not to mention I know for fact that a lot of tipped workers make more money than I do, yet once this bill gets passed, they'll pay LESS in taxes than I do even though, again, they make MORE money. Obviously this loss of revenue will have to be offset somehow (we'll get to this later) and the rest of us will be left with the bill. So this is an L for me.
2) Tax cuts for the wealthy. The vast majority of the tax cuts proposed in the bill will go to the top 20 percent. As a fast food worker I'm near the bottom and won't benefit from the tax cuts. Another L for me.
3) Increased military spending. My tax dollars going to the military industrial complex is yet another L for me.
4) Elimination of the ev tax credit. My car is very old, I'll need to buy another one in the coming years. I was planning on saving up for an EV and maybe buying one in 2027 or so. I would have gotten the cheapest car that qualified for the tax credit, but now that that's getting eliminated, that's another $4000 (or 7500 if I went new instead of used) I'll have to spend. Another L for me.
5) Increases child tax credit by $2500. My tax dollars going to couples having children is an L for me and since this is an incel forum, it's an L for all of us. (there, now it's incel related so this is my justification for posting this in ID)
6) Increased deficit spending. Deficit spending is how we'll be able to "afford" those tax cuts/exemptions, and this bill will add 2.4 trillion to the deficit. This means more inflation, which means we can expect to pay even more for groceries, another L for me.
So I'm 0-6 on this bill. And from what I can see there's NOTHING good here at all. Just a bunch of bullshit that's going to make my life shittier, and if you're a low wage untipped worker, this will make your life shittier as well. It looks like it's going to pass too...pretty much a done deal at this point.
