I think I have a theory for Couey’s motive.

Most people who kidnap, rape and kill children are NOT pedophiles and are situational offenders. Situational offenders are child sex offenders who aren’t pedophiles and commit child sex crimes for reasons that are NOT about attraction. People who kidnap, rape and kill children usually are the ones who would kill many people, including elders, and people in general. Many of them often have a past of crime. Couey has had a past of crime, including drug possession, illegal gun possession, molesting a 5 year old, and burglary. His IQ was 78.
