I personally disagree, I think that third-person gives you a better perspective of the world as a whole, and also adds on to the fact that it's a video game & you're just playing as someone else compared to actually wanting to literally be them or be in the world, which to me first person implies

I agree but when it comes to combat; whether it be shootouts or melee combat in a game, I prefer first person.

it makes sense to be in first person for combat, but for just exploring or conversing i want third person mode ideally

Fix the camera, create your character and improve the animations, optimize the game and this problem will no longer exist, because now you can make a game in first and third person.

i think deus ex was pretty ahead of its time by having first person gameplay and 3rd person when talking (it did not have cinematics so the 3rd person talking bits represented the "cinematics" of the game)
it wasn't really done like that at the time, it was one or the other, or you had FPS gameplay but with long-ass cinematics that interrupted everything
wlel that's not the only thing that was ahead of its time about deus ex, it was a crazy game in many ways

Even Hero shooters are not the same
Take Marvel Rivals as an example it is much better third person than first person because of the hero mechanics unlike overwatch which is better in first person
