I don't particularly like the idea of coping with porn. you do you though tho doe. you seem to be very worked up about an opinion (which is an actual scientific fact btwthongl).
I mean, most of the studies on this are done much better than:
that one shit Drug Facilitated Sexual Assault study JFL @The Notorious SLAV
But even then, they often seem to just note that there's a correlation between negative mental traits and porn use, and leave it at that without establishing any causal relationships, leaving it unclear which is causing which. That for example is the case with this 2024 metastudy, which I found when trying to find the reaction to AI-generated porn I mention at the end:
Pornography use has risen significantly in recent years, with the internet making it easily accessible, affordable, and anonymous. For some,...
www.issm.info
That just confirmed a link between impulsivity and porn use, with the authors seeming to just admit that the former leads to the latter (similarly to the situation with people high in everyday sadism liking violent video games), rather than porn causing random normal people to become more impulsive.
although notwithstanding i really believe quitting porn would benefit a lot of people. much like quitting any other addiction doe. but le porn is le outlet o algo i guess, inspiteofthofact it's literally making you retarded
I wonder how that compares to other genres of fiction. I don't think a comparison study like that has been done yet, because all the focus is solely on porn, because society is obsessed with controlling male sexuality and sexuality is seen as something "le sacred" (but also "le corrupting" at the same time

), but is that really how our brains would see it? Is getting turned on by watching porn really substantively different than watching, say, some extreme horror movie, or a very intense thriller or comedy? In all of those cases, you are overwhelming your brain with audiovisual stimuli; their content has little reason to matter, especially how similar the brain circuitry used to process them is (For example, there's a significant overlap in the parts of brain processing arousal and disgust, which I've seen brought up by feminists to discredit the claims that foids get turned on by animals based on their brain activity when watching photos of them (the study which found that and is used to claim that is I believe on the incels.wiki's scientific blackpill page)).
It's hard to imagine why watching some vanilla porn video should screw up men's (and it's always men's according to everyone obsessed with banning porn) brains more than watching ultra-HD 4k remasters of the entire Saw franchise in one go, but with the focus on porn and solely on porn from moral guardians, that does seem to be how they see it

.
For a personal example, there's only one long porn video (it had about 50 minutes; conincidentally, it was on incestflix, so it fits the thread quite well

) which I've watched in its entirety in my life... and it was boring AF. Those people's acting was comical, the effects were a joke, etc.
Now, compare that to just one of the series I've decided to watch recently on a whim:
Goddamn, that's gotta be a new record:feelsahh:. Boyos were really skirting the line having a foid antagonist just be a jerkass for no reason, as is the standard for male ones, for that long. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bitch_x_Rich Foids gotta have their sad backstories, no foid character...
incels.is
That shit had moments where I stopped the video because the cringe (and tension as well, to a much lesser degree) was too overwhelming at times to watch, especially in the earliest episodes when the main character was doing extremely dumb things.
One of those things I genuinely just felt nothing while watching since it was a glorified home video of a bunch of doofuses showing off their wooden acting, the other had me averting my eyes and stopping it for being too cringe, but according to most porn haters, it's the former that's supposed to have brutal effects on me because of "le harmful content", while the latter and other mainstream entertainment like it doesn't even demand looking at, since it's just normal

.
And of course, then there's also the perennial issue of what
exactly people are talking about when they talk about porn. While I've seen TERFs screeching that it's "scientifically proven" that watching even a single porn video "permanently rewires a male's brain" (and of course, it's
always only men who are affected according to foids, and many tradcucks in general), does that apply to other forms of NSFW content as well? Obviously, normal porn gets it, as do hentai anime and manga, but as someone who also regularly checks out sex story sites, it always seemed to me that even the moral guardian types are very averse to including text-only content in their crusade, since at that point, you are getting dangerously close to just including people's own fantasies in the "dangerous and addictive content". Well, that, and people (erroneously, even Literotica has a mostly male userbase) believe that it's mostly foids doing that, so they don't care, as their objective is to deprive men of copes, not foids. That despite the fact that, if anything, live-action porn videos are the tamest of the three, and qualitatively, there's barely any difference between them in how much sex happens there, the scenarios and so on, but still, the attention they get is simply directly correlated to how much stimulation they provide to the viewer/reader.
Which is doubly funny, since if you've been following the recent debates around the scrapped ChatGPT NSFW mode, there were already people shifting the Overton Window on this issue by saying that this is it,
this will be the really bad porn, and it will be much worse than ordinary porn, since with ordinary porn, you just read or watch it, while with the AI-generated stuff, you actually control it and interact with it

. I really wish I had saved the site where they talked about this, it was funny to see the changing worldview in action.
