in 2021 I bought Rayman through Ubisoft connect I played it for a bit and ended up forgetting about it. I started playing it again and realized that in this version of the game the fucking music is messed up.
in the levels it's only playing this one song or sometimes not even playing the fucking soundtrack at all. see here for an example:

so yeah, the windows 98 version of Rayman fucking sucks I played the REAL version on my PS2 back when I was a kid, but like a dumbass I ended up selling the console and all the games I had for it. I foolishly did the same thing with my Wii, Wii U, and Xbox 360 . I was such a fucking dumbass.
although I actually do have a PS2 again since a few years ago my grandpa gave me his old PS2 and games which he wasn't using. here are the games: gran turismo 3, midnight club street racing, need for speed most wanted, ATV off road fury, intellivision lives, and wheel of fortune.

would it be worth the effort to find a copy of Rayman for my PS2, or should I download the PS2 version on my PC?

I have original Rayman on Windows but haven't played it in a while, but IIRC it might be one of those where you have to put the CD in the tray while playing the game in order for it to have full sound/features. There were a few DOS/early Windows games like this.

Rayman for the PS1 was great, easily one of my top 20 childhood games maybe top 10, idk I would have to think about it.
I got to the mountain levels and then shortly lost the disc after that so I never got to finish it, should probably go back to it and finish it one day.
The music is part of what really sells the game so with that missing it's not nearly as worth playing, you should definitely just emulate it like others are saying.
