I never watched much classic King of the Hill but did it always have that preachy educator tone? The exchange between the noodlewhole and Bobby gave me the same sort of vibes I would get from a show made for toddlers explaining basic concepts that are still presented as novel to the viewer while the one being explained to is meant to be the ignorant but eager audience stand in.

You're right it was a boomer or older gen x cartoon, I found American Dad to be funnier.
I get what it's target demographic is and I've seen a number of sitcoms aimed at that generation, but that clip feels different to any of them, the way it's written gives me the vibes of early childhood edutainment specifically, not old man entertainment and a young adult Bobby isn't the character that should need these common modern social concepts explained to him. Even with a sheltered upbringing hypergamy is so prevalent that there's no way a man wouldn't encounter foids talking about "ethical" non-monogamy and him being accepting of the situation with minimal pushback(only request for explaination) doesn't add much to the scenes in terms of entertainment value, so it's just exposition on a real life concept many people in the audience would already be familiar with and which the character should be familiar with.
If they had one of the older guys in the scene at least providing initial push back against the proposition to serve as a foil to Bobby's desperation and naivete then there would be potential for comedy and character dynamics. I think one of the biggest tells is that the only joke in the first scene shown before it presumably goes to an ad break is that a guy happens to fall out of the ceiling, it has no relation to the topic at hand, just slapstick inserted so as to make the exposition seem less dry.
I'm not even expecting the show to not be cucked and subversive, but it shouldn't be so substanceless. Low level boomer humor like KotH was known for is not the sort of absurdist content you'd get in the Simpsons or American Dad but rather the sort of thing you could get a light chuckle out of often due to an expected level of relatability but there is nobody to relate to in this scene except possibly the noodlewhore, Bobby is too naive and sheltered to be related to by men even as young as their early 30s but too accepting of new forms of modern degeneracy to be related to by older audiences who aren't used to just how bad things are.
