I usually sit alone in class and rarely have anyone to talk to. I see my classmates happily chatting and always together whenever they go out to eat or go home. No one talks to me to actually get to know me, and I don’t get the chance to know them either beyond just their faces and names. But that never happens because I don’t want to be the one who speaks first. I keep thinking that I might just bother them and that they would only talk to me out of obligation.

I want their interest in me to be genuine, but I know that probably won’t happen since im ugly asf. What hurts even more is that they only give me attention during group activities, short quizzes, or exams. The only time someone speaks to me is when they ask if there’s an assignment or not. It makes me feel like they see me as just a tool they can use when they need something, not as a person they want to know or be friends with

Why would you feel bad about this? I never talked to people on campus and this was good, talking to normies is cucked

You are overthinking. College is making you anxious, horrible feeling. But think about this: nobody really cares. Normies don´t think to deeply about ther realtionships, in truth, beeing to quiet can make you a target for bullying. So try to have a small chat now and then. Always hide in plain sight

It seems that my “social animal instinct” is on, and it seeks connection

Can't you take online classes? I'm supervisor and what I see, not even half students are attending classes in person.

Various people have made threads about how it's stupid to go to in-person college if you have the chance to do it online, and I'm inclined to agree. I don't think, however, that everyone can do that—some degrees require you to actually physically be there.
