I have tried like 7 therapists and basically all of them even refused to acknowledge my problems. These people are not supportive and are some of the most mentally ill people I’ve ever met. 3 of them talked more about themselves than about me. I’m pretty sure they don’t get any practical experience in school and just finish tests or something because this is ridiculous.
And you’re beyond screwed if this guy doesn’t personally like you. He will avoid talking about actual issues like the plague. He just wants to get paid for you talking about your day and mentioning that you stubbed your toe. They don’t actually do anything if you’re very mentally ill. This is for people who are already neurotypical, at which point, why are you on there??
With one of them I was talking about my relationship issues and negative thoughts, and the guy straight up said there are people with limbs missing. Like dude, do you only help people who are actually mutilated?
The only good experience I’ve had has been with a private life coach, I think since insurance covers therapy they don’t try and people just keep coming to therapy because it’s free. I got some good advice from the life coach since he seemed to speak from experience but he was more productivity oriented than mental health.
What are your experiences like?
What are better alternatives to therapy?
