OK so. Basically to summarise, it was the last games console with decent specs that didn't need constant updates and other downloads.

Yeah I find it kind of tedious. It's so nice to just buy a game and play it.

Sometimes I feel like I'm just waiting for cloud gaming to take off just so gaming becomes simple and fast again.

Thing is, it can't just be nostalgia because consoles have actually changed.

I could understand someone saying it's nostalgia if the modern consoles were the same as the old ones (physical games, no installs, etc).

It was easy to hack it or buy pirated DVDs on the cheap, so in this regard it was the best in the 7th generation. He was pretty decent, as he had lived for about ten years. Since the last major releases of MGS V, battlefield hardline and black ops 3 were released in 2015.

I just meant it had solid specs when it was released. Which means it got new AAA games, unlike the Wii for example which was greatly limited by its low specs.

I'd go back to PS2/XBox/Gamecube. 360 started the annoying necessary downloads, and I fixed plenty of them. The design of 360 was absolute shit, it's a miracle Microsoft didn't get sued more.

Maybe the dashboard updates were necessary for online play or something?

I mean, to be fair though the 360 updates were generally really really speedy. So much so that I basically didn't notice them.

I see your point though. The PS3 is also an interesting case because in this regard it was I suppose somewhere between a 360 and a PS4.

And the ps3. Although 360 was vastly better multiplayer wise. But yes, I feel you are correct. I don't think I'll be partaking after the ps5. Time to money aside for a good PC build. Fuck consoles. They're dead in the water. It's over.
