As far as I know it's not possible to create a single cell with DNA in a lab, let alone create billions of them and connect them together. Just nope. I do agree though AI will take years to develop to that of human general intelligence as they are now trained for classification and pattern recognition problems. Beyond EAs, reinforcement learning is also something to keep an eye on. Though I disagree that AI research has recently slowed, ever since Hinton et al were redeemed its been booming.

We're very very far off from this technology. Though there are other ways to go about it that may be more viable than 3D printing (that's just seeding cells too rn, so it's limited). Gestating an edited full human or growing the brain from stem cells in a bioreactor probably the ways to go.

As for hearts, still years from completion, maybe in our lifetime. Last time I checked there are many problems like grafting, vascularization, proper cell differentiation.

The thing is though when you edit a genome enough even less than Venter did, the cell is new. It will behave differently, it can be a different type of cell if you change its genome enough.
