Background
Dr. Mariano Barbacid (born 1949 in Madrid, Spain) is a world-renowned molecular biochemist and pioneer in cancer genetics. Recently, a process called triple combination therapy, developed by Barbacid and his research group, achieved complete and durable regression of established pancreatic tumors in multiple mouse models—including genetically engineered models and patient-derived tumor xenografts (where human tumors are grafted onto mice). The mice tolerated the treatment remarkably well with minimal toxic side effects.
There are limitations of course, most notably the process is not ready for human trials; the exact combination used in the mouse models involves compounds owned by different pharmaceutical companies, and translating this to humans safely is a massive hurdle.
Public perception
Surely the public must appreciate the fruits of Dr. Mariano's labour right? Let's see the top search suggestions on Google:Wait what? Why are people focusing on his face so much? Apparently he has a red mark on the face:
Oh whatever, Google is dumb and gay anyway. Let's see what happens in other search engines.
Bing:
Bing MicroSucks my dick anyway.
DuckDuckGo:
Uh... this cannot be, who are these people making such a fuss about the good doctor's appearance? Must be incels and looksmaxxers! What a bunch of losers teehee.
yahoo!:
YOU KNOW WHAT, momma always told me not to judge a book by his cover. Assholes!
Let's be more creative, let's go to AOL:
Can't this man get any peace, why are people like this. It's almost as if the black pill is real. But it's not real, because I say it is not! I'm so mad right now!!!
