Consciousness... Is it really the soul, or is it just another brain function that dies when we die?

How do you think before you learn a language? I can't imagine it. Do you think in concepts? Does language actually hinder our thinking abilities by limiting us to having to verbalize ideas in our own heads? If a baby never learns a language would he be smarter? How would he learn other concepts without knowing a language to learn them first tho?

I always felt my life sunk back to the same point. Every year seems to have the same amount of ups and downs, with the same mundane life in the middle evolving year by year. Always. Always made me wonder if we are destined to have a certain type of life. If our nature just draws in the exact same time of atmosphere and there's no escape

It's a fundamental aspect of our universe. Our biological bodies only allow consciousness to manifest but consciousness has always been there.

I think in a nonverbal way most of the time. I don't even have an inner monologue like most people claim to have, my mind is a bunch of disorganized thoughts and I have to make a conscious effort to put them into words with the voice in my mind. I think that's something bad. If anything, language fosters the creation of ideas in the mind, the less you use language the harder it is for you to think.

There's absolutely no escape.

Language is further conceptualization and filtering of more real things like feelings and non-verbal sensations thus an inner verbal monologue only makes the core message less pure , concentrated and clear (water added to wine) and adds more unnecessary confusion and reinforces habits of living in the ego rather than the selfless. Basically inner monologue is constantly gaslighting yourself (no matter the words used and thought).

Also this inner monologue is mainly a dialogue/multilogue with an imaginary audience comprised of internalized voices of others yelling and screaming judgements at each other. You are the host of these parasites in your mind and you need to eliminate/murder these inhabitants to become free and reclaim your autonomy.

We need language to communicate with others but language is indulged in even when one is in solitude and that is very harmful and unskilfull

The "selfless" doesn't exist, the ego is all we have. You can stop using language and it'll make no difference at all in that regard. But using language forces you to use your brain and it allows you to get more information from outside so you have more chances to create new ideas if you use language.

Aren't you that member who is pretty good at chess? Do you need to articulate your strategy with words in your mind before making a move?

I would be amazed if so.

You don't need to speak them out loud, but the monologue in my head is verbal.

As for chess I play on instincts for 70% of the game, and I definitely have to actively verbaly think when I get in jams

If youre interested what in Buddhism the doctrine regarding 'non-self' entails:
