This has been a really divisive topic in the UK at present, many have praised this decision, saying that older voters don't understand or advocate for the societal issues faced by the youth and that the prioritise short-term and short-sighted policies that cause damage to the economic framework of the country in the future. Others however believe that 16 and 17 year-olds are borderline politically retarded because they lack life experience, typically don't work etc.
The repercussions of lowering the voting age will be interesting to observe (You all know I like statistics by now) and will almost certainly cause an influx of support towards the more extreme, anti-establishment parties in the UK political landscape such as The Green Party (eco-socialist and lgbtq-agenda), Reform UK (anti-immigration and anti-lgbtq) and likely Jeremy Corbyn's new socialist party (for those unaware, Jeremy Corbyn is basically British Bernie Sanders, he hates Israel and got kicked out of the Labour party for 'antisemitism', I'm not woke but he's pretty based).
I'd be interested to see your opinions on the voting age being lowered to 16 and why. How would that affect things in your country?
