Yes. Afghanistan was already pretty chaotic and unstable since before the US invaded. The Taliban first introduced their backwards draconian barbarism to control the local peasants and punish them for fucking their donkeys and little boys, but they do suicide bombings and commit other terrors to pacify the locals. Any semblance of order was through fear of being killed (usually publicly).

Afghanistan is not a region you want under the control of a proxy militant group like the Taliban. It spells bad news for almost every country surrounding it.
