At some point, it's going to make more strategic sense to use dozens of tactical nukes to cordon off parts of Ukraine with a radioactive firewall that isolates the Ukranian troops from their supply lines.
Putin might do this if he realizes that the juice is not worth the squeeze any longer, and that it's better to just glass Ukraine to have it be a dead buffer zone against NATO, instead of absorbing the country back into their own land.

The ukraine has had about 10% of its pop flee to neighbouring countries and they wont be coming back which considering whites are not reproducing much anymore will likely leave them crippled economically for the foreseeable future. Add in russia has the better part of 4 oblasts nearly 20% of the country under occupation its safe to say ukraine is not a serious threat directly. Whats abundantly clear is they are pawns of the west their own interests mean nothing and that they exist souly to at best soften up russia for future western aggression. Problem is due to the sanctions backfiring and the loss of equipment sent by the west its been a major failure.
