I believe that if developers were to develop new games for the PS3 nowadays they would achieve even more than the top games like Uncharted and Gran Tourismo.

Xbox 360s had a failure rate of around 50% iirc.

And it still almost beat the PS3 in sales. Sony could only come out on top at the end of that console generation.
