IVF can be used to choose a girl baby (sex selection). Girls have lower rates of genetic diseases. So many parents will naturally prefer a girl anyways.

India and China use IVF to choose male babies. Hence the large number of currycels and ricecels.

We can use IVF to choose female babies. Maybe a law requiring all IVF procedures to choose a female baby?
