I've noticed that pretty much all young people are very machiavellian and pragmatic. Morality and ethics don't seem to be concerns to them at all aside from invoking them when engaging in moral posturing to attempt to persuade an audience. Cutthroat competitiveness is everywhere, even in the least desirable jobs. Even at my shitty burger flipping job, people engage in manipulation, brown-nosing to curry favor with managers, and in some cases even sabotage. Also look at how often zoomers bring up game theory dynamics with day-to-day life. This behavior is simply an adaptation to neijuan (hyper-competitive society).

These days if you're a naive idealist you're either a clueless boomer, a silver spoon trust fund baby, or terminally autistic, or otherwise completely sheltered from the real world. Nobody else has this luxury.

yes, such idealists are also often bluepilled and my experience with bluepilled people is that most of them don't really live up to their potential in terms of success. On the other hand even successful folks that act bluepilled are usually more machiavellian than they let on. You can definitely use psychological techniques to slightly modify your personality - maybe not change it entirely, but you can definitely incorporate habits. Think of them as sharpening skills. Even someone with zero athletic talent or musical ability could still at least gain an average level of skill with practice and training.
