My first marriage fell apart due to emotional abuse. I took as much as I could for four years and then I had enough. The final straw for me was when I told Aren I had a small bonus at work and he used it to pay off one of his friends to whom he owed money. He didn’t even ask me if that was ok. I was so upset as I’d hoped to use that extra money to buy myself some new clothes as Aren rarely let me go shopping.
