Everything is updates. Gotta have those updates and stay UPDATED.

- technology needs constant updates

- the news is everywhere always updating us as to exactly what's going on RIGHT NOW

- your youtube recommended and similar is full of the latest updates by people you follow

- your video games update

EVERYTHING UPDATES! lol :)

Compare this to like 30 years ago when you hardly ever got updates. The news was on TV sometimes, you could manually patch games and operating systems, VHS tapes didn't get updates.

Now it's just so... non-stop! Don't get me wrong there are good things about it but sometimes you just want to unplug from it all. Read a book or watch a DVD or go anywhere where the updates are not! :feelscomfy:

Nice observation.

It seems that our world is moving into a high volatility phase, where constant changes in technology, geopolitics, culture, etc - are becoming the norm rather than the exception.

I do wish for some stability in our life. The rate of change is only accelerating as time goes on, unfotunately.

I dislike how everything is turning into a TV series. It's like people can't accept a 90 min film that starts and ends there anymore. One time payment is also disappearing, everything is a subscription.

Oh yeah I guess you're right.

It's weird because my attitude is typically "Meh, I'm not into series. I'll just wait for the next movie" but then the next movie is like a decade later, lol

I guess there's real benefit to knowing which "updates" are worth engaging with and which aren't.

If it's something positive or genuinely important then maybe it's worth it, especially if it doesn't involve going too far out of your way.
