Have you ever stopped for a second (shamelessly copycatted from Out of Shadows, 2:13) and looked around in public places?
Less than half of the women actually look somewhat good, we just don't notice that because we only turn heads for the hot, fertile, long-haired.
The majority of women are either too old, obese, or have excessive makeup, tattoos, piercings, or have short hair (Elvis Prisley haircut, which looks good on men but sure as hell not women).
If every woman was beautiful, it would not be considered special. The short-haired turkey-necked obese grannies provide a contrast to the young, reproductive, long-haired woman.
But my brain filters them out automatically. When I think of "woman", I catch myself initially thinking of a long-haired woman at a reproductive age. That's just the minority of women.
Of course, looks aren't everything but it is the first thing we notice. It is the basic requirement that has to be fulfilled, just like women demanding 1.80m (6 ft) height from us.
