I live in New England. I live in the liberal capital of the country. I grew up being very liberal as well as the majority of my family being liberal. I literally cried when Trump was elected in 2016. Because of how covid was, I would now be considered very right wing. I remember being ostracized online and freaked out on in real life because I did not believe in transgenderism and the normalization of it and sexual deviancy in society. I remember people telling me I’m a monster for not hating cops. I tried telling them that not all cops were evil and my grandfather was literally a cop and I love him. I was pushed out of the left because it went so far left. I was pulled into the right because ironically, they were more accepting than the left. I was accepted by conservatives when I was a liberal. That is what brought me to the Republican party before I realized they don’t actually care either. If the Democratic Party did not go as far as they did and push the degeneration of society I would still be left and would probably be at the bs no kings protests I am sad to see what the Democratic Party has become as well as how much the Republican Party larps about actually being conservative when they don’t actually care about conservative ideologies either.

TLDR: both American parties suck and don’t actually care but I am conservative because the left isn’t tolerant to thoughts or ideas perceived to be opposing

Honestly, same. The weird thing is that what is left has shifted so much. By early 2000's standards, I would be considered very left. However now, I would be considered right wing.
Strange how you can't seem to be allowed to both want order, but also allow people the autonomy to do whatever they wish as long as it doesn't cause harm to others.

I’m left leaning, but more of the “workers deserve to be treated and paid fairly” and “starting wars overseas for personal gain is bad” type of left as opposed to the “kill all men and white people” type of left.

10 years ago I would have been right leaning since the left were the snowflakes. But lately I’ve been seeing many more of the right, especially American conservatives, acting more like snowflakes.
