I had what I would call a "late-stage" mentality even back in 2022. It's hard to put into words exactly what this is, but essentially it's the realization that substantial time has in fact passed, but you haven't progressed with it. I had this to an extent even in 2021, such as one day when I went to the beach with my family that summer and thought, how am I still being driven around by parents at 18? But by 2022 it was fully crystallized; I went into a tech store with my dad early that year and thought, how do I still have no independence, how am I still at this store I've gone to countless times already?
How wrong I was… I would go back to that 2021–22 phase instantly. Relatively speaking, it was not late-stage at all, of course I didn't see that. Maybe I will think the same thing about now in a few years. It's like when I used to play online chess, lose 50 elo and feel terrible, then lose 100 more elo in an even worse losing streak and wish to be back at the -50 rating from the starting point.
JFL I went back to that same tech store in the last days of 2025, that's what this post was about: https://incels.is/threads/an-incels-saturday-night-out.827281/
