Back in the day, the net was mainly designed for adults. If parents wanted to keep their kids safe online they would do this via software or settings. An example of a piece of software to do this is Net Nanny.

But this seems to be an outdated approach I suppose.

These days the net seems to be designed for kids first and adults second.

You're assumed to be a kid unless you prove you're over 18. Unless you're trying to access social spaces for kids in which case you have to prove that you are under 18 or whatever the age is.

Yeah I agree that there's a good chance that governments use this as an excuse to increase control. But a lot of people seem more than happy to jump on board with it.

Because my friend they're idiots who fall for the 'think of the children' logical fallacy, people generally just have a disliking for those younger on the net or they think kids should 'go outside more' considering that things have obviously changed and that doesn't work anymore.

Governments are no different to wanting control if you saw in Russia the censorship laws over there began with regulations to protect people from harmful content but then overly expanded towards anything that they deem a threat to the state or went against the narrative.

The internet got killed thanks to things like COPPA and IPO's, which allowed advertisers, payment processors and corporations to run the show. Doesn't help that normalfags and femoids just allowed it to happen and didn't object to any of it.
