the insane atmosphere of gmod maps

This might be corny but is it just me or wandering around a gmod map in singleplayer is super paranoia inducing? Like when you try to enter a building or a certain spot, it looked empty at first but when it adds up to the ambience it now feels "alive"? In which lead to a feeling that someone's there/ you're not alone typa thing.

I genuinely have no balls to explore these maps they are so terrifying.

There's always that eerie feel about gmod maps on sandbox, I always feel off about the back court areas of construct because i remember when they didn't exist at one point
