Better clothing would be better for the environment, fight slavery and exploitation, and is universally better for everyone. But government inaction to tax irresponsibly produced clothing is actively harming our water quality.
I don't get why the public never discusses actual solutions. We're placed in a false dichotomy of either "degrowth" (read Communism) or bad capitalism, nobody actually wants to put forth actual solutions to the world's problems, despite scientists actually writing about them.
In politics our only options are either visionless Conservatives who want us to go back in time (when everything was objectively worse) or degrowth crypto-Communists.
Why isn't there any pro-progress political party in the West? Fake progressives are more Conservative than forward-looking.
Fuck this false dichotomy. I want real quality products.
Ever notice how "environmentalists" always protest against alternatives to pollutants? This is because they know that if the world progresses further they'd become obsolete, this is why they actually protest against viable alternatives to oil and gas such as nuclear, geothermal, hydroelectricity, Etc. In a few decades environmental activists will also protest against wind energy because they kill birds (the moment Big Oil feels threatened by wind energy as Big Oil finances all "anti-oil" groups).
I'm convinced that we need an actual revolution to get rid of all Conservatives and crypto-Communists.
