He went to the hospital one day and the doctors were like holy shit dude your organs are shutting down. This was after he had got into a recent divorce with his wife.
They found traces of poison in his body and he thinks his wife was slowly putting small amounts of poison overtime in his food/drinks
Fortunately the guy was such a drunk he was pretty much throwing up everyday so not all of it would stay in his body but it eventually caught up to him
